About us

"...I found Educated Equines to be both caring and experienced ... Bryony and Bernie made the process of weaning completely stress-free for me and more importantly an easy transition for both the horses. ..."

The Proprietors...

Bernadette Jones

Bernie started riding when she was 11 at a riding school in Oxfordshire, which meant a 5 mile cycle there each day after school and at weekends. She used to muckout for rides.

Since starting to ride, Bernie has gained a wealth of industry experience with a variety of Equines, including naughty school Ponies and youngsters. All the Horses and Ponies Bernie has owned, she has succesfully broken in and produced herself.

Bernie is now kept busy over-seeing all aspects of the business.

Bryony Jones

Born in 1992, Bryony first sat on Bernadette's horse (Keighly) at 18 months old. Her Parents then bought her a pony when she was 2 years old - the pony (called Munchkin) was also two. Bernadette broke in and rode away Munchkin when he was 3 1/2.

After almost 7 years of fun, Bernadette and Allan then bought a very fast 17 year old pony for her to progress with. In the first 6 months, Bryony spent more time off Mickey mouse than she did on him(!), but suddenly they clicked and where winning ODE/SJ/DR and showing.

When Bryony was 11, Allan and Bernadette bought her a 13.1 jumping pony to run alongside Mickey mouse. He napped, reared and most people said he was dangerous. But Bryony perservered and re-schooled Russian to compete in Hunter trials, sponsored rides and BSJA. He qualified Blue chip champs 2005, 128/138 scope, PSOA small ponies and gained all his BNOV double clears by the time he was loaned out and later sold in the summer 2005.

From continuosly having Ponies with "quirks", Bryony is kept firmly grounded and is constantly developing methods of training and management to improve each Equine. She has learnt that having a good understanding of each individual is paramount to the success of the partnership.

Bryony's main focus is BSJA, although she enjoys producing Horses and Ponies to succeed in all spheres and is very likely to be spotted out hunting during the season!

At present Bryony's qualifications are:

BHS stage 2BHS riding & Road SafetyBHS / ESFAC First aiderDEFRA Advanced certificate in Equine transport (Attendant)
